About our cats...

What does Cyberkoshki mean?

Cyberkoshki is a compound word acknowledging the owner's two professional worlds - Information Technology and Siberian cats.   "Cyber" is a play on words for both its use as a technology prefix and as a homomyn of the start of "Siberian". Siberian cats are the native long-haired cat of Russia, and the word "koshki" is the English alphabet spelling of the Russian word for "cats". It was first adopted as our CFA registered cattery name.

Our award winning cats

Our owner, Lucy Drury, began her career exhibiting pedigree Siberian cats during CFA 2013-2014 show season as a mentoree of the owner of Slava Siberians, Sherrie Phelps.  Together, they showed Lucy's very first show cat, GCD, BW,  RW Slava Better Believe It, to numerous titles, including Grand Champion, Breed Winner, Regional Winner, and the very first Grand Champion of Distinction title earned by a Siberian.

Since then, Lucy has exhibited numerous Slava cats earning numerous titles, including  three Breed Winners, eleven Regional Winners, three Grand Champions, three Grand Premiers, and one National Winner - GPD, NW Slava Charisma of Cyberkoshki, the first adult Siberian to earn a National Win.   See our blog below or visit our website at www.cyberkoshki.com to learn more about our cats.

Cats to Websites?

Shortly after Lucy started exhibiting Siberians, the webmaster for the CFA Midwest Region passed away unexpectedly.   The webmaster had carefully tended the region's site for nearly 10 years.  The Regional Director sent out a plea for help - was there anyone in the region who could help?  Though Lucy had training in web development and had facilitated as a project manager the development of several web-enabled applications and websites, she had never actually administered a website.   Her experience told her that it was unlikely they would find any one with the skills to figure out a 10 year old website, so she volunteered to take a look.   She was able to access the website and keep it going for another two years until the region replaced it with a modern WordPress site.   After retirement, Lucy updated her web skills by learning Word Press herself, and has since developed and managed WordPress sites, including her own.
